According to a latest revelation by Dr Isa Amin, a senior urologist of Bahrain , fake versions of Viagra, the drug meant for treating erectile dysfunction in men and other medicines have become increasingly available in Bahrain . Further, Dr Isa Amin reveals to GDN (Gulf Daily News) that he and his associates have informed the authorities that strict action is to be taken instantly against such practices and the concerned ministries are taking the required action.
Dr Isa Amin, the urologist also makes it apparent that fake Viagra pills and other counterfeit drugs were made available for sale by claiming them to be herbal medicines and also by advertising that these drugs were capable of curing cancer, heart diseases, diabetes and impotence. He also adds that a whole array of fake medicines sold in this way were labeled and branded as Viagra and were made available for sale in packages that are almost similar to the packaging of the Pfizer manufactured anti-impotence drug Viagra. Altogether, Dr Isa Amin states that the counterfeit pills are likely to contain different ingredients or a lesser amount of the active component in comparison to Pfizer`s best-selling medicine and also makes it apparent that he would specially like to warn people against administering the Viagra pills as they can be potentially dangerous to health.
However, Dr Ahmed Jamal, the president of Bahrain Medical Society (BMS) reveals that health officials would undertake a thorough inquiry into the claims and thereafter discuss the matter pertaining to the availability of counterfeit Viagra and other medicines in the market with the government. He further makes it apparent that officials would soon start discussing this issue as the lives of people are likely to be at serious risk.
Moreover, according to Dr Ahmed Jamal, the Bahrain Medical Society (BMS) has passed on this information to its members that they should emphasize the significance of purchasing prescription-based drugs from authorized pharmacies to patients after availing a prescription from the doctor.
